I have now had two full days in Nishinomiya, Japan. The first day I only made it until 5:00pm my time (1:00AM at home). A wonderful lady came over yesterday through the board of education and helped me figure out where I am on a map, how to use the hot water and walked around town with me. My first morning, I took a cold shower. I tried everything I could to get warm water…turns out you have to turn on the water heater before you shower or anytime that you want hot water. Hah.

I went to this restaurant two days in a row for lunch. The first day with people helping me and the second day, by myself. I ordered the same thing by pointing to the picture and asked for the noodles I wanted. When my lunch came there was a for and spoon hidden on the tray š I’m not yet professional with the chopsticks, but I will be!
When I went to pay, the owner brought me a note and said, “closed tomorrow”. I said, “I will be back the day after then.” She repeated, closed on Wednesdays. She must know that I’ll be back everyday for the next month..HAH! Felt like she was taking care of me and I appreciated that.

I start work today. I think I will wear pants for the first time since I have been here. The sweat may go right through them (TBD). The humidity soaks you the minute you walk out the door. Texas humidity has got NOTHING on Japan humidity. I’ve heard this year is abnormally not. It does not cool off at night and the mornings are not any cooler than the rest of the day.
My favorite thing I have seen so far is the kids playing, laughing and having fun. That doesn’t change no matter where you go.
I walk around smiling. I can’t stop. I seem to be the only one that is ALWAYS smiling. Everything I see is new and every step I take is new. I have walked miles-making sure I know where home is. I have yet to venture out and get lost, but that will be in my near future.
Did shopping with a friend yesterday. One of the nicest people I have ever met picked me up and took me to Baskin Robbins and then we did a little shopping! As expected I am XL in shirts and I fit the biggest pant size which is an 8.

I miss my dogs. I walk up to a home good store each morning and say good morning to the puppies. I won’t be able to do that today since I work. I believe my friend is taking me to the dentist today as well….because a root canal is in my future. Yuck.
I hope this finds you happy and healthy.
